Spirit Guides and Spirit Animals.

There is so much information out there in books and on the internal about Spirit Guides, I wanted to bring some of that information into one place.

What are Spirit Guides?

Everyone has a guide, normally a spirit that has led a human life. This guide is chosen before you are born into this world and will be with you for the span of your life; other guides will come in for particular periods especially if they have an expertise in the lessons you are learning. Think of your spirit guides as you mentors, your spiritual best friend, that person who will always stand with you no matter what. You may have even lived a life with your guide in a past existence, the bond with our guides whether you are aware of them or not is unique a powerful bond like no other.

Types of Guides:

  • Ancestors: Passed family members who offer guidance and protection.

  • Ascended Masters: Enlightened beings such as Buddha, Jesus, or other deities who provide profound spiritual wisdom.

  • Guardian Angels: Divine beings assigned to protect and guide.

  • Power Animals or Totem Animals: Animal spirits that embody specific qualities you need.

  • Elemental Spirits: Nature spirits associated with earth, water, fire, and air.

  • Spirit Teachers: Guides that come to teach specific lessons or skills, often during certain life phases.

  • Inner Self or Higher Self: A version of your soul that has a more evolved perspective.

If you decide to start any spiritual work (I'm a firm believer that everyone has the power) your guide will become your wing man, your most trusted advisor and will be essential in everything you do. When I work, whether healing or reading mine is there, he is my spiritual protector, he allows the messages I need to hear to come through. My relationship with him is something I treasure, I sit in meditation with him which allows for free communication, I call on him when I am in situations I feel uncomfortable in and most importantly I thank him every day for the experiences I have, the lessons I am learning and the support he provides. Our relationship is one of love and trust.

So how can you meet your own guide?

This was something I was desperate to do and came with time, when I was ready for it. It isn't something that can be forced, although that said when you do finally meet them it will be like you have always known them.

My advice on meeting your guides would be to try and sit in meditation and ask for them to come through. I'm going to put together a meditation which will hopefully help with this. But there are already many mediations out there on YouTube or on apps like Insight Timer which will offer a starting point.

But find somewhere comfortable to sit, but on some nice relaxing music, ground and protect yourself as you normally would and put into your mind the intention to meet your guide. You might see or feel nothing, it may take several attempts but keep at it and trust the process, listen for any little messages, images or thoughts that pop into your head. Are they yours or do they feel like they have come from somewhere else? If they don't feel like yours take note and write them down after you have finished your mediation then reflect on them, could they be messages from your guide?

Never be afraid to ask your guide for their help, even if you can't call on them by name, speak to them anyway and start building that bond. Thank them everyday for the help and guidance they bring into your life, when you do meet them it'll make that experience all the more special.

Much love,

Lucy x
